Collaborative Writing of A Film Review ?!
Hello everyone, long time no see you !
I hope you are all doing alright. For this week's post, me and my friends were assigned to do a collaborative writing given in the ICT class. The task was quite simple but very entertaining at the same time: choose a film, watch it, and write a collaborative review that includes many aspects of the movie around 400 words. We also had to comment on each other's work and provide feedback in order to make it better.
To assign the tasks to each other, we had an online meeting with my friends. Each of us got the parts where we felt more comfortable doing so. Every of us wrote our parts in different times, but thanks to the Google docs, we were able to check each other's writing at the very moment or just follow how the writing of the paragraph was going. This (immediate feedback and observation) could be the best part of doing our assignment because we were able to communicate through just a simple document!
Working together in Google docs was a new experience for me but it immediately showed me that it was user friendly. We could edit rapidly, leave comments on specific sentences. I particularly appreciated that we could comment and see them because in that way I was able to fix what I have done in a wrong way without changing the original idea of my paragraphes.
Personally speaking, I found this collaborative writing task not only educational but also very enjoyable. Google Documents is an excellent tool for teamwork, and I’d definitely recommend it for my students as a foreign language teacher candidate.
